19th June - Rhylee, Fadeel and Catherine - Our podcast update!
17th March - Tina, Nico, Ayo and Louie - Our podcast update!
Welcome back Cedar class, I hope you have had a lovely half term break.
This term we have lots of interesting things to learn in our topics, including the North and South Poles in Geography and exploring everyday materials in Science, where we will be carrying out lots of great experiments.
Our artist this term is Joan Miro, and we will be creating our own pieces of art using the artists style for our display board.
We wanted to share with you our wonderful Ferris Wheels that Cedar class designed and made last term. We worked well together in groups and it took lots of problem solving to create our final pieces.
This term Cedar Class have worked extremely hard. In D.T, for sewing, we designed and made a wallet. The children overcame many problems and produced some amazing wallets.
The children also learnt about mechanisms and constructed vehicles using their knowledge of wheels, axles and axle holders. Later in the term we will be designing and making a Ferris wheel.
School trips!
Cedar Class have 3 trips booked for the coming year and I am pleased to be able to give you the details for all of them as follows:
Trip 1 – Orchard Theatre: 24th November 2022
Children are currently learning about recounts in English. We are visiting the theatre to watch a live performance of ‘The Tiger Who Came To Tea’ and we will be writing a recount on our return. We will also include some art and drama work prior to our trip.
Trip 2 – Bodiam Castle: 23rd March 2023
In the Spring term we will be learning about castles and will be visiting Bodiam Castle to support our learning. The children will have the opportunity to take part in a workshop about armour and will have a guided tour.
Trip 3 – National Gallery: June 2023 (to be confirmed)
In the Summer Term we will visit the National Gallery in London. We will look at artwork featuring animals and plants. This will support what we are learning in both Science and Art.
The total costs for all 3 trips is £24.00. This is a discounted price as the school and the bid money from INEOS have put £600 towards this to help reduce the cost.
We have set up a payment plan of £4.00 per month to help spread the cost. Payments are due on the 5th of each month and should be made using Horizons: https://horizons.junipereducation.org/login.php. Please tick the box to give your consent for your child to go on the trips when making your first payment. You only need to do this once for all 3 visits.
