Wednesday 1st February
Below you can find a selection of work for classes that have to be closed due to the strike action as voted for by the NEU Union. Importantly, it should be made clear that the strike on Wednesday is not just about the low increase in teachers’ pay in relation to inflation. As well as this, the strike has been announced because of: the creeping effects of growing class sizes; teaching assistants disappearing from the system; higher levels of poverty and inadequate school budgets. At Lawn Primary, we have, and always will have, your child’s best interests at heart.
Nursery
Draw a picture of you and your family. Ask someone to write all of your family’s names and try and copy the letters under each word. Add colour if you would like to your picture or writing.
If you get time, here is a list of useful websites linked to specific maths skills, games and videos for children working at nursery age:

Year 1
Think about your favourite book or story from home. Draw five pictures that tell the story. E.G. The Three Little Pigs: you could draw a picture of the first pig in his house made of straw; the second, in his house made of sticks; the third picture, in his house made of wood; the fourth picture, could be the wolf blowing down the first two houses and the fifth would be the three little pigs, safe in the brick house and the wolf exhausted from trying to blow the house down.
If you feel like more of a challenge, draw five pictures to tell a story and write a short sentence for each picture!
We are looking at building secure knowledge in our number bonds to 20. Create a rainbow that has the appropriate number bond at the end of each colour. E.G. 17 + 3, 12 + 8. If you find this a little tricky, just start with the number bonds to 10.

Year 2
Oh no! Something has happened to our computer, it has started writing lots of sentences incorrectly! Could you copy these sentences and correct them please – it would be a great help.
- Fsih and chiips is my favourite thnig to have for breakfast.
- i had a pte monkeeey and his name was Andrew.
- the graden is a good place to smlee the flowers and listen to the birds shout.
- It was a funee house because the childrn always played games and smiled.
- Emma the liltlte fairy cant get back home, she mite be lossst.
Thank you! Now choose one of these sentences and draw a picture that could go along with the sentence.
We are thinking about money at the moment in year 2. Select, at least, three things in your house and write down how much they cost. They could be small like a pencil or something big! The choice is yours. If your looking for a challenge try and find 10 things and then put them in order of how much the cost from smallest to largest with the amount you need in coins or notes to pay for them.

Year 5
Phillip Pullman has wrote many amazing books like the Firework Maker’s Daughter. He is also well known for his trilogy “His Dark Materials”. In this trilogy all people have a daemon that follows them around (a small creature that can change shape in the form of different animals).
If you could have a daemon follow you around what animal would you like it to take the shape of and why? Draw and annotate a picture of your daemon explaining how the different features it has would help you in any situation. Here is an example of an annotation I would have for my daemon: Large, strong claws that a cheetah could use to climb up high on any building and see for long distances.
Maths. We are giving you a chance to take control! We get to school at 8:45AM every day. I want you to create your own timetable for your perfect day at school. You can do whatever you want, so long as it’s not rude or offensive you can do it. However, I would like to see a start time and finish time for each activity and next to this, how long each task will take in minutes and hours. Don’t forget about lunch and break!
