The school was the first Board School built in Northfleet. Lawn School opened on 18th October 1886 and was extended in 1893 which also included a clocktower.
During the Great Storm of October 1987 the school suffered severe structural damage.
The gale force winds snapped the spire and collapsed the top of the historic clock tower. Because the structural damage to the tower was too extensive to safely repair, the clocktower had to be completely demolished during the post storm clean-up.
The original Victorian Board School building was the gutted by fire in 1988, causing £200,000 in damages. Following the destruction, the old structure was demolished, and the completely new school building was built near the original site.
The school still has one of the original three bells which also reflect our school logo.
