Message from Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

I do hope that you have had a wonderful summer with your loved ones.  It has certainly be a very different summer holiday period.

I am delighted that we will be opening up for all children to return to school this term.  It has been such a long time since we had everyone together.  This is the first time that I have written to you during a summer holiday period, but I felt that it was necessary to catch up with you prior to the children coming back.

I firmly believe that we are ready to welcome all children back and that the children need to be back, mixing with their friends and learning in their new classrooms.  We were delighted that so many children from across all year groups were able to return in the five weeks prior to the summer holidays.  The children all adapted very well to the changes in routines and the social distancing measures put in place.  Thankfully, we all remained fit and healthy during this period and have so since.

There will be a mix of emotions from both children, adults and staff as children return to school.  It is always difficult for children returning after the 6 week holiday and this will be no different.  It is nearly 6 months since many of our children were in school and therefore we are preparing to be able to support children in their return in as many ways as we can.

We strongly recommend that if your child has not been away from you since school closed, that you start to leave them with other members of your support bubbles for short periods of time.  Increasing in time each day will be beneficial so that they (and you) are more prepared for the return to school.  Make sure that they know when you leave them that you will be back and ensure that you do return at the time you said you would.

I have posted a Parent Handbook, the new Risk Assessment and the Behaviour Addendum on here with all the details of how the school is different  and what is the same.  Start/finish times and bubble information is also included along with day to day information.  You should have received also detailed information in July.

I realise there is a lot of information to take in so please take your time to read the handbook carefully and feel free to ask any questions at all.

I am sure that by the end of next week, both you and your child will be feeling a lot happier and we will all quickly get used to the 'new normal'.

With warmest regards

Angela Wilson
