Welcome to Cedar class

May 2020

Hello Cedar Class.  Just checking in with you and hoping you are all well.  I hope the children have been enjoying their home learning packs.  Please do not stress if they are finding it difficult to complete all the tasks and activities.  If you do need any help with anything please email me (details below).

It would also be lovely to see pictures of your completed castle DT project or if there is anything else you have been doing whilst school is closed that you would like to share with the class.  Please send your emails to schoolwork@lawnprimary.co.uk, remembering to add FAO Mrs Hudson in the subject line so that I can pick up your message.  When sending photos, do please also let me know if you are happy for them to be uploaded onto our website and Facebook page.

Kind regards.
Mrs Hudson

March 2020

This term Cedar class have been learning about an artist called Paul Klee and they have created some wonderful pictures of castles using his style. In our topic lessons we are learning about castles and we are very excited about our forthcoming trip to Bodiam Castle next week. In science the children made their own fossils using a shell and plaster of paris, we are really pleased with the outcome and the children can now explain how fossils are made. Can I remind you that PE is on a Monday afternoon and so children need to have their P.E kits in school for this. Please continue to share books with your children as this will have a great impact on all areas of their learning.

January 2020

Welcome back everyone, I hope you had a wonderful break.  This term Cedar class will be learning about the great fire of London in topic. We will be doing a variety of reading, writing and artwork to understand what happened during this historical event. In science, we are studying a topic called Our Living Earth. The children will learn about life cycles of various animals, eating healthily and the importance of exercising and hygiene.  Our PE session is still on Monday afternoons, and this term we are improving our gymnastic skills, so please make sure your child has their PE kit in school all week. A gentle reminder also that earrings must be taken out by the children themselves or left out for the PE session on Monday, as they are not able to do PE with them in. Please continue to listen to your child read each night as this has a positive impact on all of their learning. Homework is given out on Fridays and due back in on the following Thursday. Any homework set will usually be a continuation of, further developing of, skills, learnt in class, so it is important that your child completes this in order to consolidate their learning.
